The city of Amsterdam is proud to host the 5th European Congress of Mathematics, to be held in the Amsterdam RAI Conference Centre. Amsterdam was selected for this extraordinary event out of many other European cities. Amsterdam is a true melting pot of cultures and has over 174 different nationalities living in the city. The Amsterdam city centre is famous for its breathtaking canals which give Amsterdam it very special character. Amsterdam however has much more to offer then a historical city center. The Amsterdam city center is located less then 30 minutes drive from the Amsterdam Schiphol Intertional Airport, one of the biggest and most modern airports in Europe, making Amsterdam easily accessible from anywhere in the world. The city has a remarkably compact centre and counts 750,000 inhabitants that nearly all speak fluent English. The Amsterdam people have the magic of combining business and pleasure in the most natural way.

The organization of the 5th European Congress of Mathematics wishes all it's participants a very beneficial congress and enjoyable time in Amsterdam. The 5ECM organization would like to invite all VIP participants and public speakers to join them for a canal cruise in Amsterdam upon arrival.
